I have tested a few lights to heavy oil cleanser and my verdict always turns negative with various reasons. It's either too thick or just didn't suit my skin. So, what do I think about Althea Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser? Let's find out here.
Is it she lovely? |
WHAT IS ALTHEA PORE PURIFYING SERUM CLEANSER?
If I didn't read all the information on the website, I might not know that this is a triple threat product. As it combines the powers of a cleanser and serum that whisk away makeup, dirt and oil.
The serum cleanser supposed to ensure the skin stays cool and hydrated with a dual moisture cell system that envelope the surface in a serum-like formula. There are also a few functions that you need to know about the cleanser;
1. Prevents the skin from drying out
2. Effectively minimise enlarged pores, keeping it smooth to touch.
3. Helps to balance the pH level of the surface
4. It's gentle and suitable for sensitive skin.
LET'S BREAK INTO THE INGREDIENTS LIST...
Water, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Cyclomethicone, Isononyl Isononanoate, Dipropylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Hydroxyacetophenone, Disodium Edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Citrate, Butylene Glycol, Fragrance.
Just like other Althea products, there are THREE key ingredients that you should know; Mint leaf extract (cools down the skin and soothes irritation), Jojoba seed oil (deeply moisturisers any dryness without feeling heavy) and Tea tree leaf extract (has antibacterial properties that purify the skin).
Since I love to analyse my ingredients on SkinCarisma, I decided to summarise the results of the analysis. The cleanser is free from paraben, sulfate, alcohol and even contain anti-aging properties (Citric Acid). Take note that it's not sulfate-free and fungal acne (Malassezia) safe product for those who had a reaction to it. I didn't find any mint plant around my area. 😂 |
HOW TO USE THE SERUM CLEANSER?
There are two ways to use the serum cleanser; one, to remove makeup and second, to cleanse the skin 'like' a regular face wash. I made a quick video for you to check out below 😉
DO I LIKE IT? WOULD I REPURCHASE IT?
Estimated time that I tried this product is around 3 weeks but inconsistently. Why it took me so long? Well, because I want to see if it makes any difference to my large pore, but throughout that, I discover that I prefer it as a makeup remover rather than a regular face wash.
The cleanser act as gentle makeup remover which the reason I fell in love with it. It doesn't strip my skin and make it dry at all which is a surprise. The only thing that I don't like about the product is when my hand feel 'kelat' (e.g., the bitter feeling you get after eating the banana peel) during the cleansing period.
There is also one thing that I feel strange about this product - it doesn't produce the milky emulsion. I think maybe it's the reason why my hand feel 'bitter', perhaps.
When it's time to cleansing the face, I notice it's a bit strange for me to not have a foam or at least a visible texture. It confused and make me doubt most of the time. Even though, I followed the instruction that you need to wet your face, apply the product 5-10 seconds and wash it off but...I feel like something is missing.
Overall, it was a very good experience to try out the cleanser but I will only repurchase it when I need a gentle makeup remover, not as a cleanser.
